Assam tea has the distinction of being one of the darkest and boldest of the black teas. Quality Assam teas are full bodied and have a rich malty character. More often than not, an Assam tea infusion is sufficiently bold to handle a splash of milk, though some can be enjoyed clear. Often times a splash of milk highlights the deep notes of quality Assam teas.

The bold and rich nature of Assam tea makes it ideal for the morning.

The Assam region is located in the northeast part of India, where tea grows on both sides of the Brahmaputra Valley. The Assam region is the largest black tea producing region in the world.
